A Laundry List Of Things To Report:

We have been so productive lately! You don't even know!

Our list of achievements include:
  • ending our Visa paperwork's rein of intimidation on our hearts (we've started statements and everything)
  • beginning to plan our Australian wedding celebration
  • a few amazing finds at the thrift store
  • BUYING A DINING TABLE (sweet jesus, you don't even know! i want to pee with excitement)
  • being awesome and supportive friends to people
  • eating a very mysterious but delicious korean bbq without incident
  • visiting the giant hardware store finally to sort ourselves out
  • doing some awesome shopping and being bargain-y and clever
  • finally getting to see Pixar's 'Up'
  • spray painting. so much spray painting.
  • drooling over guitars and mandolins and $600 ukuleles
  • committing to doing up the garden next weekend so we can reward ourselves with a new bbq
  • working on our band's bound-to-be-smash-hit "Stalking For Love"
I feel like I am forgetting so much, but that's okay. I will progressively remember things, I swear it.

We have had a pretty relaxing weekend-- Dave had a little bit of a rough one at work and I am definitely coming down with something that isn't the previously suspected spring allergies. I am so excited to show you guys the little projects I've been working on-- they delight me so! But, we'll have to wait for a little. Hmm, what else can I elaborate on?

UP IS AMAZING. Seriously, the both of us (and we have since discovered, all of our friends) CRIED LIKE BABIES PRETTY MUCH THE WHOLE MOVIE. I think it has replaced Finding Nemo in my heart and I would recommend it to you all, for sure. You see, this was a pretty big event for me because I've been waiting oh, SIX MONTHS ISH. When it was out in theatres in Canada, I was in Australia, and it was only released last week here in theatres. That is why I am so antsy in my pantsy over it. Duh.

We bought a dining table and myself, all of my pants, and the carpet are currently in a prolonged state of 'rejoice'. After a lot of humming and hawing, we found a table that I think is going to be really great. We first wanted this white little number, which was adorable and very cape-cod like. It would have been really versatile and easy to get rid of in the event that we move back to Canada or switch apartments (both of which we are sure will happen), but in the end the quality was rubbish and it was.... self assembly. Dave had faith, but I just couldn't be bothered. So we stopped by this lovely Persian man's store on the way back home and found a beautiful Tasmanian oak table that worked for us. He gave it to us for a bargain and we're getting matching chairs with great fabric (nervous, so very to see how it looks), which might be ready as soon as Saturday! We were a little bit hesitant to get a huge wooden table, because they appear to be EVERYWHERE, but this one isn't nearly as big as the others. I can't wait until it gets here and I can show you!

Um, our hit song, "Stalking For Love" has been on our minds. Dave's currently trying to come up with the chords for it, we're thinking it will be an 80's in the 2000's hit. I'm going to go and buy a little keyboard soon, since I don't actually own the synthesizer that I play in the band. I assume it will first invade Europe and they gain some worldwide fame from there. Some of my favourite lyrics include:

Why don't you open your mind?
Why can't you open your blinds?

I've got no hope
But I've got a telescope

But I'll never delete from the hard drive of my mind
The smell of your socks taken from your clothes line

As you can probably smell, it's a hit.

OH! SO! EXCITING! My little weekend projects have included painting this UH-MAZING lamp that I found at St. Vinnie's on Thursday. I had been looking for a cool lamp everywhere, but I haven't been able to find one that I love. I found this gaudy looking thing and thought I could make it work with a little bit of love--- Dave, however, came home to see it in the middle of the living room floor and possibly thought I lost my mind.

You see, he was faced with this:

Beautiful, I know.

BUT THEN I GOT STARTED PAINTING. Admittedly, I think my current fling with spray paint is partly due to reading the most amazing blog that I've mentioned before, k.f.d. Designs. She just does so many good projects with paint and the like that I can't help it. It's taking over right now.

Anyway, back to the lamp. I haven't gotten a shade for it yet, but I'm planning to make one next week once I get a few other things in order. But the lamp itself? It turned out exactly how I was hoping it would:

Don't mind the crooked pictures there. :)

And, my second little project was taking this broken, old, plain, wooden frame and fixing it up into something ridiculous and wonderful. I already have a painting idea for it and amazingly found a canvas to fit it exactly.

Yes, it is gold.

I know you are all asking yourself if I have started some sort of downhill slide to becoming Liberace, but just trust me, alright?

Our house is slowly becoming AWESOMMMMMEEEEE.
